Question from the Downtown Committee of Syracuse:

New York State recently eliminated a $700,000 contract that paid for six annual trash cleanups along interstates 690 and 81 in Onondaga County.  The cut was part of the state division of budget’s ban on all contracts that don’t immediately help with “health and safety.”  The Downtown Committee of Syracuse would like to know if this has happened in other communities across the state, and if so, how it’s being handled.
